Aesale-thawab or Fatiha proof from Quran and Ahadees

Esal e Sawab or Fatiha is nothing other than to ask Allah subhanavataala for the forgiveness of our sins, and to raise the spiritual status of the deceased. This may be achieved through various practices, such as the offering of du’as [supplications], to recite the Qur’an, to offer Qurbani [at Eid al Adha], and also, to perform a compulsory Hajj [fard] on the behalf of the deceased.

Evidence from the Qur’an

Allah (Almighty.) has ordered the Muslims (believers) that you pray for your parents as follows:

O’ My Lord [Allah (Almighty.], have mercy on my parents like they have bought me up through my childhood. (Surah Isra, Verse 24)

Allah (Almighty.) has praised those Muslims who ask for forgiveness of the deceased. They ask for forgiveness in the following manner:

O’ Allah (Almighty.) forgive us and forgive our Muslim brothers and sisters who have passed away. (Surah Hashir, Verse 10)

The above mentioned verses demonstrate that if anyone prays on behalf of another person, the latter will receive the [spiritual] benefits - Allah Willing. This also demonstrates that if it was the wrong action Allah would not have ordered us to pray for other people, nor would He have stated that those who ask for forgiveness for the deceased, receive praises from Allah.

Evidence from the Sunnah or Hadees

Imam Bukhari and Imam Muslim write that:

A man came to the Prophet Muhammad [May Allah bless Him and grant Him peace] and said ‘My mother has suddenly died and she did not leave any will, but I suspect that if she did that then she would have told me to give something to charity. Now if I offer something in charity on her behalf, will she get the reward?’Prophet Muhammad [May Allah bless Him and grant Him peace] said ‘Yes’. Then the man said that I make you, the Prophet, as my witness, that I offer my garden full of fruits to charity. (Bukhari Muslim, Chapter Al-Wasiha)

This hadith, as can be clearly read, proves that to offer a charity on behalf of the deceased will result in the deceased obtainig a benefit.

Imam Bukhari writes that: Prophet Muhammad [May Allah bless Him and grant Him peace] has said, The status of the deceased is raised(during their time in the grave), and the deceased ask Allah (Almighty.) why has this happened, Allah (Almighty.) replies that your son has prayed for your forgiveness. (Al-Adab, Al-Mufid Chapter Excellency of the Parents by Imam Bukhari)

From this particular hadith, it can be understood that not only charity, but the offering of prayers (making duas) and the giving of alms, will also benefit the deceased.

A man came to the Prophet (saw) and asked: My mother has passed away, and if she could have spoken, she would have given something in sadaqah (charity). Will she receive a reward if I give something on her behalf? The Prophet (saw) replied: Yes. (Bukhari)

The Prophet (saw) said that some people will enter Paradise at a certain level, but then suddenly, they will see that they are rising to an elevated level, so they will ask: Our deeds only brought us to this level so how come we are rising higher? So it will be said: Because your childrens used to make istighfaar (asking Allah for forgiveness) for you. (Ahmad)

Imam Shafi's (Rh) ruling:

Imam al-shafa'i (rh) said: The dead may benefit from the actions of another in 3 cases: Hajj performed on his (or her) behalf, wealth that is given as sadaqah (charity) on his behalf, and dua (supplications).... And Allah is Most Generous because He will reward the living and benefit the dead. (al-Umm)

A TRUE HAJJ

A man came to visit Junaid Baghdadi (rh), whose life reflected no change, even after having performed Hajj.

Junaid (RH) asked him: “Where are you coming from?”

“Sir, I have returned after performing Hajj of the House of Allah”, was the reply.

“So, have you actually performed Hajj?”

“Yes, Sir, I have performed Hajj “, said the man.

“Did you pledge that you would give up sins when you left your home for Hajj?” asked Junaid.

“No, Sir, I never thought of that”, said the man.

“Then, in fact, you did not even step out for Hajj. While you were on the sacred journey and making halts at places during the nights, did you ever think of attaining nearness to Allah?”

“Sir, I had no such idea.”

“Then you did not at all travel to the Ka’bah, nor did ever visit it. When you put on the Ihram garments, and discarded your ordinary dress, did you make up your mind to abandon your evil ways and attitudes in life as well ?”

“No, Sir, I had no idea of that.”

“Then, you did not even don the Ihram garments!” said Junaid ruefully. Then he asked; “When you stood in the Plain of Arafat and were imploring Allah Almighty, did you have the feeling that you were standing in Divine Presence and having a vision of Him?”

“No, Sir, I had no such experience.

Junaid then became a liltle upset and asked: “Well, when you came to Muzdalifah, did you promise that you would give up vain desires of the flesh?”

“Sir, I paid no heed to this.”

“You did not then come to Muzdalifah at all.” Then he asked: 0″Tell me, did you happen to catch glimpses of Divine Beauty when youmoved round the House of Allah?”

“No, Sir, I caught no such glimpses.”

“Then, you did not move around the Ka’bah at all.” Then he said: “When you made Sa’i (running) between the Safa and the Marwa, did you realize the wisdom, significance and objective of your effort?”

“Sir, I was not at all conscious of this.”

“Then you did not make any Sa’i!” Then he asked: “When you slaughtered an animal at the place of sacrifice, did you sacrifice your selfish desires as well in the way of Allah?”

“Sir, I failed to give any attention to that!”

“Then, in fact you offered no sacrifice whatever.”

“Then when you cast stones at the Jamarahs, did you make a resolve to get rid of your evil companions and friends and desires?”

“No, Sir, I didn’t do that.”

“Then, you did not cast stones at all”, remarked Junaid regretfully, and said:

“Go back and perform Hajj once again, giving due thought and attention to all the requirements, so that your Hajj may bear some resemblance with Prophet Ibrahim’s Hajj, whose faith and sincerity has been confirmed by the Qur’an :

“Ibrahim who carried out most faithfully the Commands (of his Lord).”(53:37)

True freedom

Free your mind from the limitations of your eyes and ears, and turn to the Limitless Oneness, so that metaphors should not blind your sight. “Good deed” is what you do when you are turned toward the Oneness. “Misdeed”, on the other hand, is what you do when you turn away from the Oneness, whereas the One is free from “good” or “bad” deeds.

The first 10 days of Dhul Hijja

It is reported that the Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him and give him peace) said, “There are no days more beloved to Allah to be worshiped in than the ten of Dhul Hijja, the fasting of every day in it is equal to fasting a year, and the worship of every night in it (equal) to the worship of the Night of Power (Lailatul Qadr). [ Tirmidhi ]

The Gardens of Paradise

The Holy Prophet (salallahu alaihi wasalam) said: “When you pass by the gardens of Paradise, avail yourselves of them.”

The Companions asked: “What are the gardens of Paradise, O Messenger of Allah?” He replied: “The circles of dhikr” (Tirmidhi).

Beutiful Hadith : O My Lord! Where Are You?

Moses (peace be upon him) said: O my Lord, are You near so that I may whisper to You, or far, so that I may call out to You?

I feel the beauty of Your Voice but I see You not.

Where are you?

Allah replied: I am behind you and in front of you, on your right and on your left. O Moses, I am the Companion of My servant when he (or she) remembers Me. I am with him when he calls Me! (Al-Daylami)

Kissing Thumbs During the Athan

In the Hadith:

The Holy Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) said, “whosoever has touched the name Muhammad with his hands, then kissed his hand with his lips and rubbed it on his eyes, then he will see Allah Ta’ala just as righteous ones see and my intercession will be close to him even though he is a sinner.’’ (An Nawafi ul Atri’aa)

In Jannat, when Hazrat Adam (alaihis salaam) desired to meet the Holy Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam), then Allah Ta’ala sent Wahi (revelation) to him, “From your generation, he will become apparent in the later years.” Then Hazrat Adam (alaihis salaam) desired from Allah Ta’ala to meet the Holy Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam). Allah Ta’ala showed him the Noor of the Holy Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) on the Shahadat finger of his right hand. The Noor recite the Tasbeeh of Allah Ta’ala. It is for this reason that this finger is known as the kalmia finger. Allah Ta’ala showed the beauty of Holy Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) on the thumbnails of Hazrat Adam (alaihis salaam) like a mirror. Then, Hazrat Adam (alaihis salaam) kissed his both the thumbnails and turned them over his eyes.

Thus, this Sunnah of Hazrat Adam (alaihis salaam) became consistent in his descendant. When Hazrat Jibraeel Ameen (alaihis salaam) informed Rasoolullah (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) of this he said, “that person, who when hearing my name in Azaan, kisses his thumbnails and turns it over his eyes, he shall never go blind.” (Tafseer Roohul Bayaan).

Once the Holy Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) entered the Masjid and sat down near the pillar. Hazrat Abu Bakr Siddique (radi Allahu anhu) was seated beside him. Hazrat Bilal (radi Allahu anhu) then stood up and commenced with Azaan. When he said: “ Ash hadu Ana Muhammadur Rasoolullah”, Hazrat Abu Bakr Siddique (radi Allahu anhu) placed his both the thumbnails on to his eyes and said “Qurratu Aini Bika Ya Rasoolullah” ( Ya Rasoolullah! You are the coolness of my eyes). When Hazrat Bilal completed Azaan, the Holy Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) said, “O Abu Bakr! Whosoever does like you have done, Almighty Allah will forgive his all sins.” (Tafseer Roohul Bayaan).

Sayyiduna Imam Hasan (radi Allahu anhu) said Whosoever hears the Mu’azzin say’ “ Ash hadu Ana Muhammadur Rasoolullah” and says “Marhaba bi Habibi” and “Quratu Aini Muhammad Bin Abdullah” and then kisses his both the thumbs and keeps it on his eyes, then he will never become blind and his eyes will never be sore.” (Maqaaside Husna).

—-

In fiqh, the discussion of taqbil al-unbulatayn wa mash al-’aynayn is usually found at the end of Bab Adhan. Certain gestures performed during the adhan, and specifically the ‘amal of kissing the thumbs and wiping the eye, are something known to Shafi’is, and there can be no objection whatsoever by our jurists (and any jurists for that matter) to those wishing to perform this ‘amal: as far as we are concerned, it is classified under the category of the Fada’il al-A’mal [I'anat, 1:243; al-Jurdani, Fath al-'Allam, 2:140-1].

Among its legal bases ['ilal] is that it is a Sunna of the first Khalifa of the Messenger of Allah (may Allah’s blessings and peace be upon him!) [i.e., an Athar of the first Khalifa], and it is also based on a number of Hadiths, of which the most well known is the Hadith of Abu Bakr (may Allah be well pleased with him!).

The Holy Prophet (Salallaho Alaihi Wasallam) is Noor

Some persons believe that the Holy Prophet Muhammad (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) is only a human being and not Noor (light). They say so based on the reason that the Holy Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) had wives, had children, and he used to eat and drink.

The Aqeeda of the Ahle Sunnat Wa Jama'at is that he is both Noor and a human being.

The being and existence of the Holy Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) is even before that of human beings, but when he came into this world he came in the garb of a human being.
The Sahaba of the Holy Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) lived with him and observed him with his wives and children. They saw him eating, drinking, talking, etc. but still accepted him to be Noor.

We know that Hazrat Jibraeel (alaihis salaam) is made of Noor but when he used to appear before Hazrat Maryam (radi Allahu anha) he used to appear in the form of a human being. Allah Ta'ala states in the Holy Quran: "Thus he used to appear before her in the form of a healthy (well-built) man." (Part 16, Ruku 5)

Hazrat Umar Farouk (radi Allahu anhu) narrates that once a person came before them. The Holy Prophet Muhammad (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) asked him if he knew who that person was, he replied: "Allah Ta'ala and His beloved Rasool (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) know better." The Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) said that it was Jibraeel (alaihis salaam). (Mishkaat; Bukhari Shareef) This Hadith proves that although the Sahaba referred to Hazrat Jibraeel (alaihis salaam) as a man since they saw him in the form of a human being, yet they accepted that he was in actual fact an Angel made from Noor. On many instances, he came in the form of Sahabi-e-Rasool named Hazrat Wahia Kalbi (radi Allahu anhu).

The Holy Prophet Muhammad (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) has stated, "The very first thing which Almighty Allah created was my Noor." (Tafseer Roohul Bayaan; Madarijun Nabuiwat)
Once Hazrat Jaabir (radi Allahu anhu) asked the Holy Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) whom Allah Ta'ala created before anything else. The Holy Prophet Muhammad (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) stated: "O Jaabir! Verily, before the creation of anything else, Almighty Allah created the Noor of your Nabi from His Noor." (Muwahibul Laduniya; Zirkani Shareef)

Sayyida Halima Sa'adiya (radi Allahu anha), the wet-nurse of the Holy Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam), believed the Holy Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) to be Noor. She said that when she used to feed the Holy Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) milk in his infancy, she never felt the need for a light in her house. (Bayaanul Miladun Nabwi; Tafseer Mazhari).

Sayyida Safiya (radi Allahu anha), the aunt of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) states that on the eve of the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) she was present in his house. She said that she saw his Noor became more powerful than the light from the lamp. (Shawaahidun Nubuiwat)

Hazrat Ali Murtuza (radi Allahu anhu) said that when the Beloved of Allah (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) spoke, Noor (light) used to be seen emerging from between his blessed teeth. (Muwahibul Laduniya; Anwaarul Muhammadiyah)

Hazrat Abu Hurairah (radi Allahu anhu) states that when the beloved Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) smiled, then the walls use to glow with his Noor. (Muwahibul Laduniya; Shifa Shareef)
Hazrat Anas (radi Allahu anhu) states that the day in which the Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) arrived in Madinatul Munawwarah, everything in Madinatul Munawwarah became bright through his Noor. (Tirmizi Shareef; Ibn Majah)

Ummul Mo'mineen, Sayyida Aisha Siddiqa (radi Allahu anha) is recorded to have said: "In total dark nights, I used to put the thread into a needle with the help of the Noor of the Holy Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam)." (Shara Shifa Bar Hashia Naseemur Riaz)

Hazrat Imam-e-Azam Abu Hanifa (radi Allahu anhu) praises the Holy Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) in the following poem: "You are that Noor that the full Moon is brightened by your Noor and you are with your beauty and elegance a shining sun." (Qasidaul Nu'maan)

Hazrat Jabir bin Abdullah Ansari (radi Allahu anhu) reports: I asked: "O Prophet of Allah (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam), What did the Almighty Allah first create?" The Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) replied: "Allah first created my Noor (Light) of His Noor. This Noor travelled about according to the Will of Allah. At that time, there was no Heaven, Hell, Lawh (Divine Tablet), Pen, Earth, Skies, Sun, Moon, Jinn or Human Beings. When He decided to create, He divided that Noor into four parts. From one part He created the Pen, from the second, the Lawh and from the third, he made the Arsh (Throne). "He divided the fourth part into a further four parts. From one, He created those Angels who carry the Arsh, from the second, the Kursi (Divine Chair) and from the third, He created the Angels. "He again divided the remaining parts into a further four parts. From one, He created the skies. The second was used in creating the planets. From the third, Heaven and Earth were created. "Once again, He divided the fourth part into a further four parts. From one part He created the power with which the believers see. From the second, He created in the hearts of the Believers the Noor of Marifat. From the third, He created in the tongues of the Believers, Noor, so that they can read the Kalima of Tauheed". (Dalaa'il-un-Nubuwwat, Imam Baihaqi)

This astonishing Hadith Shareef proves that Sayyiduna Rasoolullah (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) is the life of this world and everything in it. When he is the life of this world, then everything that happens in it is clear to him and nothing is concealed from him. Who then can deny that he is not Noor (light)?

we all beleive him as Noori bashar.

ALLAH SUBHANA VA TAALA'S MERCY

Hadrat Anas ibn Malik (r.a.) said: ‘I heard the Messenger of Allah (saws) saying, "Allah, the Exalted, has Said: 'O son of Adam! I shall go on forgiving you so long as you pray to Me and aspire for My forgiveness, whatever may be your sins. O son of Adam! I do not care even if your sins should pile up to the sky and should you beg pardon of Me, I would forgive you. O son of Adam! If you come to Me with an earthful of sins and meet Me, not associating anything with Me in worship, I will certainly grant you as much pardon as will fill the earth.'''Related by At-Tirmidhi.

dhikr or zikr or rememberance of allah subhanava taala

Abu Hurairah (ra) narrated that the Prophet (saw) said: Allah has Angels who roam the earth, their sole duty is to seek out the assemblies where Allah is remembered (thikr Ullah). Whenever they find such a gathering in which Allah is remembered, they sit with them (the people), spread their wings out covering each other in such numbers that they fill all the space between them and the lowest Heaven. When they (the people) disperse, the Angels depart and ascend to Heaven.
The Prophet (saw) said that Allah would then ask the Angels, even though He is more aware than them (Allah is the Knower of all things hidden and open): Where have you come from?
They would say: We have come from the presence of Your servants on earth who glorify You, declare Your greatness and praise and exalt You.
Allah would ask: What do they ask of Me?
The Angels would say: They request Paradise.
Allah would ask: Have they seen My Paradise?
The Angels would reply: No, truly they have not.
Allah would ask: What if they had seen My Paradise?
The Angels would reply: Had they really seen it, they would have sought after it even more!
Allah would ask: And what do they seek?
The Angels would reply: They seek Your protection.
Allah would ask: And from what do they seek protection?
The Angels would reply: From the Fire (Hell), O my Lord. Allah would ask: Have they seen the Fire? The Angels would say: No, O my Lord.
Allah would ask: What if they had seen the Fire?
The Angels would say: They would have begged for Your forgiveness (even more).
The Prophet (Saw) said that Allah would say: I have forgiven them. I have given them what they have asked for and granted them protection.
The Angels would say: My Lord, there is among them such and such sinful man, he was only passing by and chanced to sit with them. Allah would say: I have forgiven him too, these people's companion is not condemned. (Muslim shareef)
